About The Speaker
Jayne Carthey is a Human Factors Consultant with technical expertise gained from both research and consultancy roles. She is passionate about the application of human factors science to improve safety and has worked extensively in the NHS and other industries. Her PhD thesis focused upon communication and decision making in the nuclear industry. She has a multitude of skills including prospective risk assessment, organisational safety culture, teamwork, incident investigation and duty of candour training. Jayne is also co-author of “Taking Further Steps: implementing Human Factors in Healthcare” and was formerly the Assistant Director of Patient Safety and Head of Research at the National Patient Safety Agency. We had the privilege of hearing Jayne at HFC17, her session was very well received and we look forward to this year when she will speak to us about Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
